Euthanasia

Here at Little Creek Veterinary Clinic, we aim to show compassion in everything we do, especially for families in the process of saying goodbye to their cherished pets. We are owners just like you, and most of us have been in the same position as you once before. This is a difficult journey and one that will go on even after your pet crosses the rainbow bridge. Rest assured; we will be with you every step of the way. Please do not hesitate to call us at 403.452.2060 to learn more about our euthanasia services.

When should a pet be euthanized?

The decision is truly up to you and your loved ones. Due to current technologies and advances, veterinary teams like ours can keep your pet by your side for longer than ever before. Your veterinarian can explain the best options for your pet during a one-on-one consultation. Reviewing several key factors about your pet’s quality of life can help you in your decision. For example, if your pet has more bad days than good and if they are no longer responsive to pain medications, it may be time to start the conversation with your veterinarian.

How are pets euthanized?

Euthanasia is performed by giving an intravenous injection. The procedure is done in-house in our designated euthanasia area. There is no pain associated with the procedure.

Can I be with my pet while they are euthanized?

Absolutely. We will make all arrangements necessary to ensure both you and your pet are as comfortable as possible throughout the entire procedure. We have a private space in our clinic specifically for euthanasia and you will have time to say your goodbyes privately if you wish.
